What a busy period we have had, making sure all service users got sorted and shopped for Christmas. Preparations had to start early to make sure everything is organised like a military operation..
Luckily all went well and everyone appearsĀ to have had a great time over the festive period. we certainly had plenty of of food and lots of generous sweets and biscuits from families, we are still working our way through them all.
We had a fabulous party on the 8th with friends and families joining us for a great night of music and dancing, we certainly saw a different side to some service users coming out of their shell. One service user who had moved to Bury came back to join the party, it was lovely to see him again.
We continue to work with the local college and 2 service users are doing really well there, they will be sitting exams in March. 4 service users have just received certificates for horticulture from the prospects foundation for all the work effort they put into developing our allotment.
On a business note we are pleased to announce that we have been selected onto the Lancashire county council preferred provider framework. we are one of only 4 providers on the framework to provide specialised residential and rehabilitation support. This was a rigorous tendering process so we feel fortunate to have been selected. (although all our beds are currently occupied)
In response to the latest CQC report remaining as “requires improvement” we had a visit from Blackburn with Darwen quality improvement service. He appeared to be pleased with the service and had no recommendations to make from his visit. we continue to work closely within our CQC action plan to improve our rating and meet or exceed the required standards, and have already recruited an admin support staff to help us spend more time on care and support related work.
We are all looking forward to the implementation of our electronic records system Nourish which commences with training scheduled for the end of January. This will coincide with the introduction of Outcomes Star which will help to shape our ways of working going forward.
