December 2019

What a busy time of year this is for us.

We held our Christmas party at Rishton Golf club this week and it was a roaring success with a singer Paul Scholey , with pie and peas served by Marjorys catering.

Everyone, service users, family, friends and staff who attended had a great night.

We have pantos and carol concerts booked for the upcoming weeks, which i am sure will be enjoyed by all

Some service users are going to Blackpool for turkey and tinsel week, and other have been abroad to Majorca for some winter sunshine in September

We have also been having several senior staff away days to look at what we do well and what we can do better to improve our CQC rating- this will provide an action plan for 2020.

In September we held our McMillan coffee morning and raised in excess of £150 from cake sales, activities and donations.

World mental health day fell in September with activities having a focus on what it feels like and how to manage mental health symptoms

November saw a focus on Remembrance day crafts with service users being supported to make a fantastic display for our fence outside

We have held some information sessions with service users looking at relationships and sexuality exploring differences between people, how to stay safe in relationships and how to keep a relationship going after the first date.

We have also focused on oral health care and staff have undergone training in Oral care and Prevent strategy.

6 staff have been registered onto the QCF programme to achieve level 3 Diploma in Social care.

We have received some positive feedback from external professionals and visitors including the following

  • The NVQ assessor has said she loves coming to Rockmount and wants to convey this via ‘have your say form”.
  • Care coordinator and and Dr have been very complimentary about a service users care, how we support her and how we have prevented her hospitalisation.
  • A social worker has said we provide excellent support and wishes we had more beds available for her to refer Service Users to. She also described the manager as ‘a breath of fresh air’.
  •  (Advocate) says she likes to come to Rockmount as it feels warm, friendly and caring. She also said the documentation is always detailed and person centred.
  • Commissioners have indicated to the manager that we do a difficult job very well.

We are looking forward to 2020 and are hopeful we continue to provide a good/excellent service to our residents
